Interpreting the Language of Toddlerhood

Last night, as we are getting the boys in the van to go to daddy's basketball game, Caden yells with exasperation mixed with astonishment, "Hey! There's a d!ck in our van!" I wasn't really paying attention and didn't quite hear what he said, but I looked up and wondered why Doug was cracking up. But then Caden, who is very much into the questioning everything stage, says, "Mommy, what are d!cks for?" In that moment, my mind is racing, wondering how on earth I answer THAT question! But thankfully, my sweet little boy proceeds to hold up for me to see, two little STICKS he has found in his carseat. Thank you, Jesus, for creating sticks and for a sense of humor!

Our Family

Well, if you don't know us, we are a family of five, soon to be six. Doug, my wonderful husband and father of our children, is the strength of our family. If Doug didn't come home from work everyday, I'd probably lose what's left of my mind. Brynna is Doug's daughter from a previous marriage, will be 13 (yikes!) in September and we just don't get to see her enough. Caden, our 3 year old, is the clown, sports fanatic, and everything a big brother should be. Tobias is soon to be 2 and very much acts like it, he is Mr. Independent, the more mellow of the boys, and our accident waiting to happen. Baby boy #3 will be joining the family in July and I'm sure will add so much more joy and chaos to our lives.
I am Rachel, wife, friend, mommy, cook, maid, chauffeur, referee, boo-boo kisser, doctor, photographer, interpreter... the list goes on. I love my life and being able to stay home and raise our children. I am also a professional photographer. As a mother of toddlers, my day is full of laughter and chaos, but it's our chaos and I wouldn't trade it for anything in the world. Lately, I've been wondering why I haven't been blogging this whole time. With toddlers, you never know what they are going to say or do and it's ALWAYS an adventure. So here we go!
